What I Do Now

2011

I now help budding authors develop their own manuscripts through my Picture Book Critique Service. Click here for more information.

2009

After going back last year to teach an amazing year for an incredible fourth grade class in Wayland, Ma (Claypit Hill Elem.), I am now resuming my full time writer status along with doing school author visits and teaching writing workshops in my home! My workshops are called, "Wishful Writers Workshop" and consist of small groups of elementary and middle school students who have a passion for writing. I am also working on several new picture books, middle grade novels and will be attempting my first Y.A. novel (Y.A.= Young Adult)! I am also an advisor to Graduate students in Lesley University's MFA in Creative Writing program and I'm a writing consultant for Grub Street. So as you can see I'm quite busy and very happy!

2007
After having my children and teaching for 12 years, I decided to go back to school and work on more of my stories. I enrolled in the wonderful, amazing and perfectly perfect MFA( Masters in Fine Arts) program in Creative Writing at Lesley University. I joined the Writing for Young People part of the program and get to work with incredible authors from all genres. My mentors, my teachers, Susan Goodman, Anita Riggio, David Elliott and Pat Lowry Collins all led by the Director, Steven Cramer, have taught me so much about the craft of writing. They have also taught me how to keep learning and how to critique my own work before I say, “I’m done!”

I still have my teaching certificate because I always loved teaching and never want to give that up, after all I write for children and just as my sons, Will and Luke, inspire me to write, so did all my past students.
